While the next federal elections are not until 2029, and it currently seems likely that the current coalition of the CDU and the SPD will remain in place until then, several important state elections are scheduled for 2026. In some states, such as Saxony-Anhalt, it is not unlikely that the AfD will achieve an outright majority if the current polling data continues.

    2. And if you take INSA it is 25% vs 27% CDU

There is no value in this information during this time, the votes just passed.

Russian and USA (since Trump) want it that way. They spread their right wing propaganda everywhere.

So…. we, the users, should do the same when Hungary has elections next time. We should flood the Hungarian internet with propaganda against Orban, so he will loose big time. Please help… I will tell you when it’s time to flood the zone.

Turns out copying their policies only serves to strengthen their resolve great job cdu

    6. That’s okay, I didn’t need a sense of peace and stability today or anything 👍

I have no more hope for this country, the only satisfaction i will have now is saying „I told you so“ when they start opening the camps again…

Well thats what happens when you deliberately exclude issues people been having for many years because of political correctness… I ain’t surprised at all

    9. laurislopata on

It’s not the first time, it already happened in April. I’m not saying it’s not concerning but I think it’s a bit alarmist to look at polls 4 years out of the federal election. Also as some others have mentioned this is cherry picked, there are multiple others polls showing CDU ahead

    10. A victory for the AfD is bound to happen. The current government copied their immigration policies, so the AfD can claim that they were right all along. In the mean time the government is cutting social security and is focusing on trickle down economy. Also the way they are communicating is an absolute shitshow. A lot of CDU MPs were in full on disruption mode the last four years and they are not able to stop, they attack their own chancellor on a regular basis.

But i dont think the AfD will rise above 30%, the current government just gave out massive gifts for pensioners and they still account for 40% of all eligable voters.

The result of austerity and failed centric policies, like everywhere in the western world

    12. Desperate-Farmer-845 on

People are dissastidfied with the current liberal-democratic System. To be fair I can completely understand them but the AfD is just another part of the Problem and not the cure.

    13. Appropriate-Edge2492 on

Is that the way how Union try to half the AfD? What’s wrong with them?

    14. lateniteearlybird on

There is a big difference between eastern and western Germany when it comes to AfD voters. Even with these numbers, they will never achieve a majority because they will never find a coalition partner. We should not panic because of a few people with little education… as this recent study describes AfD voters .. 15. You know the EU could actually try and investigate and then legislate to tackle the real issues around foreign interference, propaganda and political corruption. But no… rather we need bottle tops that smack my face when I try and take a drink.

    16. Either-Condition4586 on

Why not ban this party and deport to Russia their leaders?I think it’s the best way how to deal with right wing

    17. I like how when there was CDU lead there were no polls posted and you had to look them up yourself, but the moment AfD got 2% lead the poll was instantly posted

    18. We JUST had an election! Are we going to check on the polls every week now? Feels like a good way to speedrun going insane with no tangible value 🙄

    19. DeeJayDelicious on

6 years of practical stagnation will do that to even the most stable democracy.

    20. Remember the ’stab in the back‘ myth that helped the nazis rise to power in Germany after WW1? This time EU was actually stabbed in the back by their own politicians in the trade war with the US. This isn’t surprising, it’s just the beginning.

    21. Ikcenhonorem on

It is not like AfD is doing something to earn it. Simply all other parties are making constant favors to AfD. In fact the easiest way to defeat AfD is to give them a mandate to govern. They are bunch of incompetent populists, so they may not even finish the mandate. Also they are not Nazi.

    22. Visual_Will6655 on

      That’s just too much exaggeration…
Besides Forsa… CDU got 29% in Allensbach and GMS
The rest like Verian, Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, Infratest dimap and Yougov portrait CDU at locked 27%.

The problem is that idiots have the right to vote.
The percentage of AfD equals the percentage of idiots in the country. Point!

    23. If this is reflected in the Bundestag it’d only be possible to form a moderate government by the thinest of margins, if at all.

    24. wirtnix_wolf on

those voters are so dumb. I cannot understand why they would want those corrupt and incompetent people in power. Some people want to see the country burn, it seems.

    25. According to intelligent people this is the worst case that can happen. Hopefully the Union will do the right thing and work together with SPD, Grüne and Linke to avoid another Nazi-Germany.

    26. Cookies4weights on

It’s going to be a while before the next federal elections but they will make gains across state assemblies. They still have a ways to go before being able to elect a bundestag VP or getting another party to form a coalition to enter any government

    27. Thanks to the CDU. Surfing on the right-wing populism wave – unsuccesfully – really strengthened the AFD.

I wish we all had one common media of independent journalists to help us understand the world again.

Just came back from an appointment to get a passport, including a biometric photo for a 3 month old baby. Just to go from Germany to the Netherlands. Fuck border controls, fuck the Union. They can’t fall far enough.

    30. Due_Vermicelli_6354 on

Its nice to be born just in time to witness the end of democracy and prosperity worldwide.

    31. Question to Germany from a Latin American. All of this just because of immigration?

    32. EpresGumiovszer on

They were nearly the strongest last time too, but CDU had CSU with them. Without CSU, they are the strongest by far…

    33. You have to get rid of them, right-wing nazies and fascist.
Does anyone want to repeat history. WTF

    34. Solution: mainstream parties needs to get real tough on immigration. Denmark did this and fringe parties had the floor swept away from them.

Just produce policy that voters want. Germany has been extremely liberal and generous with immigration. People don’t like it. If mainstream parties deny it’s a problem, they will lose votes and elections. That’s how democracy works. Pretending a problem doesn’t exist because it is unsavory is not an adult way to handle it.

    35. It is false polling. AFD is strongest in East Germany but not so many live there. In west Germany they do not get past 15%.

In federal lvl I do not see them get past 20% as always, we have a fifth population of Nazis and that is bad enough.

I call bullshit on this one.

    36. reasonable-99percent on

AfD’s Cause of existence = Questionable immigration law + strategic foreign cyber warfare. Same as in many other rich EU countries. It may continue to grow as in the Eastern block, up to 35-40%…
