I’ve lived in the Ottawa area my entire life, and the only two times I remember seeing so much wildfire smoke were in 2023 and this year. I have a strong suspicion that it’s gonna become a fixture of summers around here
Canada gives [$4.8 billion a year](https://www.iisd.org/articles/unpacking-canadas-fossil-fuel-subsidies-faq) to fossil fuel companies in the form of subsidies. I think that money is much better spent on a well-managed fund to fight wildfires and help in recovery.
