      This has been a weird trend since around COVID, to look at a downturn and surmise “ah, this is because of X”. I’ve heard that Target sales are down because they’re too woke, and because they’re not woke enough.

      Normal people do not know about this kind of culture war shit and do not care. Retail sales are down because we live in a hollowed out decaying empire.

      This literally does not matter. Other than regional managers, who gives a single shit about foot traffic being measured on what must be a weekly basis for a mall-brand clothing store? This is not news, this is distraction fodder.

      I doubt the ad is the major driving force. Things are getting more expensive. I went in there a little bit ago day and a lot of those clothes were kind of ugly. The things I did like i didn’t find the fit to be very good. The one thing I did like was too expensive for me

      The ONLY time I ever went into an American Eagle was when they were giving free movie tickets to try on a pair of their jeans. And I never bought those pants, just walked out with my ticket.

      I saw someone today mention that this ad was doing wonders for return on (advertising) investment for the company and I was thinking like “yeah, I guess Levi’s is probably happy with the attention”

      I already forgot it was American Eagle that made this stupid thing. My brain just associated jeans with Levi’s and didn’t question it

      I was at the folsom outdoor mall last week buying shoes and all the stores were packed due to a big sale. The American Eagle store was completely empty. Just employees standing around

      It’s definitely brought them awareness. I know a few women that were not happy that she was criticized for her body who went shopping there.

      I watched the commercial to see what was all the commotion was about, the most upsetting thing about the commercial is it’s condoning wearing a jean jacket and jeans together.

      This is all so stupid. They just were making a shallow point that a sexy lady is wearing their jeans. Who knows if her genes are actually good or if she’s got BRCA 1 or 2… or any other health impactful thing. It’s not the point! Also, Why would they want to alienate every other race? How would that help denim sales.
