> One of the reasons, in my view, that Kamala Harris lost this election is she had too many billionaires telling her not to stand up for the working class of this country
The truth hurts, and the oligarch loving leaders of the Democratic Party will still plug their ears and go “la la la I can’t hear you”
And yet she lost to the guy who literally had the world’s richest man on stage with him for the last half of the campaign. I love Bernie, but sometimes his class reductionism is a real blindspot to why the Dems lost.
So let’s vote for the actual corrupt billionaire! Yeah that will show her!
The left has to stop eating their own and focus on Trump
Sorry this is BS. Her entire platform was directed to unions and the middle class. I’m so tired of hearing from Bernie, he needs to retire. It’s criminal that he ran for senate again, he is just like Pelosi, McConnell, Feinstein, unwilling to give up power and completely out of touch.
The key factor is Biden needed to decline to run back in 2023, to pave the way for a national primary where Dems could get the message out and get a feel for the electorate. Nevertheless, It was a highly fragmented campaign without a clear theme and vision that had no one really excited. Too many ads along the lines of „Trump’s going to cut taxes for Wall Street and the wealthy“ which are too vague and don’t get anyone excited to turn out.
If she ran on something like a National Housing Plan to address the affordability crisis in housing, along with something like „The American Families Plan“ with serious action to address costs of healthcare and child care, and an obsession with reining in grocery prices, she could have won. She had bits and pieces (expanded child tax credit, expanded disability care for Medicare) but nothing decisive enough.
She also tried to lean to the center, which didn’t do anything. She tried to act tough on immigration, which no one bought, instead of defending and creating her own narrative, passed herself off as tough on crime, touted her gun ownership, no substantial pledges on healthcare…oh and parading around Liz Cheney, Kinzinger, Bill Clinton, etc didn’t do anything, as the highest %of Republicans voted for Trump in the last three elections.
Democrats are in a tough spot where they want to try to play nice and do this failed third way centrism, that’s really just further catering to Wall Street and Corporations, but trying to dress it up as „pragmatism“ while paying poor lip service to working Americans. They’ve become the „nice“ Republicans.
It certainly didn’t help that the billionaires who were allegedly supporting her, like Mark Cuban and Reid Hoffman were explicitly promising to get Lina Kahn out of the FTC.
Kahn was unquestionably the best cabinet appointment Biden ever made. And the billionaire scumbags hated her.
Though I still say Kamala’s real downfall was the openly sucking up to the war criminal Darth Cheney and his daughter. Turns out that didn’t get her any Republican votes, and easily caused her to lose votes „on the Left“.
The continual & unrelenting attacks on Democrats from the „Left“ is what’s responsible to her defeat.
Reason number 99 why we shouldn’t have billionaires
Trump had Elon Musk (the World’s richest man) as a donor and ally. Not only that, but Trump had many other billionaires on his side, funding his campaign and helping spread his propaganda. Kamala had who? The Netflix guy and maybe Mark Cuban?
There were a lot of mistakes that were made. But I am tired of all the blaming and rehashing. The fact is that voters are at fault. The idiocy and ignorance of Americans are at fault. Xenophobia, incels, anti-vaxers, covid deniers, hate, delusion, a complete lack of economic literacy, and so much else are to blame. If it weren’t for that, Democrats could have run a baked chicken for President and won. I don’t care what mistakes were made, my country has shown what it is (and I basically already knew after having lived all around the country). The Dems and progressives did all they could possibly do to point out Project 2025 and what was going to happen if Trump was elected. Yet half of Americans thought Tariffs would get paid by China and that Trump didn’t actually want to do what was in Project 2025. That is on them.
All these post ops are bullshit playing the field for buy in and future political capital, for room to call their own, in the coming thermidorian reaction. They’re all universally driven by whatever the person’s priors are.
The only thing that ever mattered at all, was just like COVID, caused by COVID, *inflation*. It does not matter that it wasn’t you that caused it, you (your party) were there when the people felt it. The difference between how bad it is vs. how horrible it would have been is not something people will sense, they will only know that it was bad for them.
1. People are (1 in 3) incapable (literally despite education and lacking the education) of intuiting exponentiation. These people are evenly distributed in any population no matter the G score. – Any large epidemic is going to be a political death sentence.
2. People do not understand the difference between inflation, the rate of increase and the present value.
3. People are very good at recognizing superficial changes, people are terrible at basing their perceptions of efficacy regarding actions‘ taken on contra-positive 2nd order derivatives. Anyone caught leading during an inflationary period, even managing it with historical grace – will be reviled.
That’s it, that’s everything. COVID ended Trump’s chance at contiguous wins and Inflation fallout the democrats after. Everything else was fluff.
The hardest thing for some people to admit was that NEITHER was in EITHERs control to stop. It was the same the world over. Didn’t matter the party, damn near universally – wherein they could – they would be replaced.
All of this now is just political posturing.
So was Trump’s. He just had a few more.
Well the racists went with Trump too
you can’t say you are all about brining people up while the minimum wage is still the same since 2009…it makes you look sorta kinda…well a hypocrite…well nah, just another politician
I remember since 2024 this sub has been saying that the far right always betrays each other and will never succeed because of infighting. Hilariously sad that this was projection and that leftists and liberals are the ones that kill each other due to infighting and prevent their own success.
It’s more that when you are in office, you don’t do enough so the people who voted for you feel abandoned.
The 2024 election was compromised and I’ll go to my grave with that opinion.
Let’s blame everyone BUT the civics illiterate electorate easily swayed by a podcast bro and an Elon Musk sweepstakes.
Anyone who was paying attention and has some basic knowledge of government voted for Harris. If you dislike Trump and sat out of the vote because Harris was „influenced by the billionaire class“, well congratulations, you played yourself.
The working class black and Jewish voters knew the deal and held the line. The ppl who were closer to white supremacy and haven’t been in this country long enough to know our history decided to vote Trump. The Hispanic/white working class voted against their own interest. I can easily say 10% of male/female Trump voters couldn’t stomach voting for a black woman and that was their only reason.
Nothing that Bernie or Harris could promise would convince them. Some ppl just refuse to vote other than R.
If only the world got Bernie in 2016 instead of that non sense with Hillary and how it was “her turn”
Before we comp it to Trump, understand that Republicans don’t seem to give a fuck about billionaire influence. If you want to energize left-wing participation, especially among the working class and youth of the party, stop taking corporate money of any kind, and starting focusing more on small-dollar donations. The left-wing cares more about corruption CLEARLY than the right-wing does by and large.

The second they told everybody to knock off the „weird“ rhetoric I knew it was over.
Both Biden and her were empty suit candidates who corporations could put their money into. Sanders is not it, so the DNC shoved him out despite his massive popularity with the working class.
Billionaires and Israel decide American elections, not the people.
These criticisms always fall apart when you compare them to Trump. He’s a billionaire campaigning with the richest man in the world. Was the Harris campaign perfect no but we lost because of propaganda plain and simple.
I don’t believe a pathological liar ran an honest run. Very wealthy people pushed the lever closer to slavery to serve their mentally ill fantasies vs. needs of society and general welfare of humanity
Who cares? She lost(either fairly or due to election fraud) time to move on.
He’s going to take our money again, isn’t he?
It was stolen.
He didn’t get shot either.
David Pflouffe as campaign manager and adviser is a big part of the problem
‚White man blames black people, and water makes things wet. This and more at the 11 o’clock news hour.‘
Wow this comment section reads like every /r/politics thread after 2016:
– hating Bernie
– blaming voters
– Democratic Presidential candidate did everything right Ackshually
She was likely winning until Mark Cuban, James Carville-alikes and that Uber guy butted in. Hell she could’ve just let Walz keep stunting on Trump and walked to the win.
But nope. Gotta have Liz Cheney around for some reason.
Trumps wasn’t ? Bernie sweet Jesus man
