Not surprising at all. If there’s a 1 percent chance a boxer dies from a brain injury at an event, then there is one chance in 10k that 2 boxers die at the same event.
There are more than 10k events a year so this should occur more than once a year somewhere.
Therefore this news event isn’t really worthy, IMO.

A lot of these are from weight-cut dehydration that makes the brain injuries more likely and much worse.
ALL combat sports need to start weigh-ins at most a few hours before the fight. Not just for brain health of the athletes, but to eliminate other complications, like kidney failure.
