This is why that highway from the German border to Gdansk is taking over 6 years to build.

Do these funds come with a good definition of what they can be spent at? Has any of the money been actually „misspent“ according to such rules?
Those are funds intended to strengthen European economies post-Covid, right? Well, for example, in the case with buying yachts, it was actually a restaurant (a type of business that suffered during the lockdowns) that took a grant for „diversification“, bought two yachts with it, and started a yacht-renting business. So it seems to vaguely fit the definition of strengthening the economy, I guess? There could be much worse cases, however; I only read about a few of them.
On the other hand, the Polish government moved some of the funds to be used for defense spending instead. That is clearly at odds with how the funds were originally intended to be used. Is that also a case of „misspending“? Is Poland required to investigate it?
Interesting stuff. Well, always good to scrutinize how our common money is being spent!

„earmarked for the hotel and hospitality sector“
„some of the money was spent on yachts, saunas, solariums, bridge games, wardrobe furniture and other luxury items“
Technically they are related.

What is to investigate? The funds were wasted like most of EU funds everywhere else.
The issue is that EU is collecting money and then give it to people or organisations as it sees fit. That’s wasting money as the funds shouldn’t be distributed this way at all. The funds shouldn’t be collected from people that produce the wealth and know how to use their money in the first place.
Btw, creating debt is collecting the money too.

Quick, demand some reparations from Germany. Or block Ukrainian border. Damn you Brussels!
