Not yet, but city Centre is certainly getting g worse

people over react about dublin way too much, i have been in the city center at least 40 times on my own and nothing has ever happened
Regardless of the people, compared to other European capitals, Dublin is a smelly, dirty shit hole.

Must we always go to extremes? Dublin is likely no more or less dangerous than any other capital city in Europe but crime gets a lot more attention. It is far behind other European cities in many other regards however
Check out what’s going on in Sweden. A bunch of people were shot in broad daylight near my house and the gunmen came from Stockholm.
Dublin versus places like Amsterdam, Marseille and Naples? Drugs drugs and even more drugs.
I’m confused. Did people actually think it was ever one of the most dangerous? It’s incredibly safe.
The only people who think it isn’t are people who don’t live there or haven’t traveled anywhere else in the world.
Could policing and justice be improved? Yes, absolutely. But that by no metric make it dangerous.
There’s a solid argument to be made (and yes I have lived in both) that Cork City is more dangerous than Dublin City. Especially when you consider it has a much smaller population.
I’ve also heard this guy mention he’s terrified to walk down O’Connell St. In the past year.
I don’t even think it’s a safety issue I think it’s a sense of no repercussions after one of those scores has attacked someone
It’s a shithole. It stinks, there are junkies, drunks everywhere and the Garda couldn’t care less. But it’s not Anh more dangerous than an other EU capital.
Also these days it poses serious risks in certain parts of Dublin if you aren’t white which is a shame because I always thought Irish people are more open minded than their counterparts in the continental Europe.
As a queer I’ve been attacked several times in Dublin, once hospitalised. Been shouted at and things thrown at me hundreds of times (not exaggerating) because I look different. I left some years ago and it’s almost never happened in other big cities in Europe or America. I returned recently and was assaulted on the Luas and my necklace was torn off my neck and was called a f slur. I mentioned this all here before and the usual brigade of people saying “it’s a few bad apples but people are mostly sound” came. Dublin and Ireland feels safe if you’re not visibly queer or an immigrant I guess. But it does not feel safe for minorities at all.
No issues here with me. In Dublin numerous times. Grand little place.

I live there. There’s a very good Garda high visibility policing strategy in the go at the moment. The weather and school holidays admittedly doesn’t help but it’s not Beirut in the 70’s
i’m in the city centre multiple times a week, i also live in what would be considered a very rough and dangerous suburb in dublin. i can without a doubt say the city centre is more dangerous than where i live. i’ve had hostile encounters with all sorts of people in all parts of town, so has almost everybody else i know. my partner is a huge lad that no one in their right mind would want to pick a fight with, and even he admits he hates going into town because of how unsafe it is and will avoid it at all costs. people need to get off their high horses with “oh well it must be safe because i’ve personally never had a problem.” good for you, but that’s not the same reality for a lot of people. the reality is it can be very unsafe for certain groups of people for a number of reasons
Plenty of open dealing. I think when it’s that brazen you know the level of policing is too low.
The usual culprits attacking people has gone on for a generation and it seems there is no desire to fix it.
It’s only going to get worse when there are easier targets.
I’ve worked in the North inner city for nearly 30 years. Walked from O’Connell st to North wall,day and night for work. Rarely have felt unsafe. Other than young lads being a bit mouthy, no problems. I feel the notion that Dublin is dangerous is way overblown.
