They gonna give it to Palestinian Authority (PA).
Edit: Read it wrong, thought PA would get it. Which also seemed like the most obvious to govern since they also govern West Bank. Article says: The prime minister said that Israel wants to “hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly, without threatening us, and giving the Gazans a good life.”

The idea they want to keep it is so annoying because it just makes no sense. Even if you just think from a cold perspective. There’s literally no upside.
I said this on Oct 8 the day after Hamas pulled their stunt.
This is ALL part of the Israeli-Saudi Arabia accords and the deal with Gaza is taking out Iran’s Hamas lapdogs who are enemies of both IL & SA. Once that’s done Gaza will be run by a Saudi Arabian puppet government with Israel security guarantees. Then SA will rebuild Gaza (construction is one of the biggest sectors along with Oil) to be a Mediterranean HUB for Israeli/Arab capital markets and decrease Dubai/Doha influence that’s more aligned with Iran.
Israel will NEVER allow a Gazan government to be hostile to Israel ever again. Gazans would only be able to elect governments that have as #1 goal the development of Gaza and Palestinian quality of life vs current Hamas #1 goal of the destruction of Israel.
Netanyahu’s „we don’t want to keep it“ might feel more sincere, if there weren’t so many Jewish settlers who do not care that 2.2 million Gazans are starving.
We aren’t going to invade Gaza. There’s no reason to.
