      The Trump administration is seeking a $1 billion settlement from the University of California (UCLA) after an investigation found it had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act for allowing „systemic antisemitism“ against its students and staff, CNN reports.

      Last month, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced she was planning to „force UCLA to pay a heavy price for putting Jewish Americans at risk and continue our ongoing investigations into other campuses in the UC system.“ The administration began freezing around $584 million in funding and grants to the college last week.

      This horseshit has already had a terrible affect on UCLA. My friend’s cancer research lab was shut down this week after two decades of incredible, breakthrough research. Fuck cancer, fuck this fascist administration, and fuck UCLA and all the other schools and corporations bending the knee!

      Well seeing as how the UC system is a public university system, I’m hoping they have more ability to tell the Trump administration to go fuck themselves than the private universities did…

      UCLA can’t be sued as an individual institution, the UC board of regents is the proper party to be sued and Newsom, as the governor, is on the board of regents. I would not expect the sort of capitulation that people in this thread are expecting.

      So, is the idea now that the president can just extort institutions for doing things he didn’t like and said institutions just roll over like a dog and beg for mercy?       People need to understand this is AIPAC bribing our government to remove the first amendment right to free speech for anyone they think is antiSemitic. The first amendment should not be for sale. It applies to everyone in America, citizen or no.

      He also wants to have CBS-settlement-style controls over UCLA: no more non-MAGA views, no scholarships for minorities if a white person thinks they deserved it more, and no trans rights.
