The „pure people and corrupt elite“? How about „rich and poor“?
Populism literally is just popular rule and our entire system is built on popularity. The most popular candidate wins.
All of this scaremongering about populism and associating it with the far right kind of misses the point I think.
Populism is the only thing that could save us at this point, yet our leaders in opposition consider it there reason for being crushing it before it can take hold in the party.
I don’t think the definition of populism is true. Rather, I would say it frames the society beween two classes : the pure and honest people ; the others like for example the wealthy, immigrants, the arabs, etc.
A sense of democratic dissatisfaction or indoctrinated against Democratic values??
There’s at least as much populism on the right as there is on the left, though.

Well, I guess part of the issue is that if society is happy and there’s no „populists“, thats because the government is probably populist past a certain degree.
Well Trump didn’t come to power because so many people somehow felt he was cool. He came to power because so many people thought voting for Democrats is disgusting too.
