Our connection with the Liffey in Dublin is so broken. There are still sections where the footpath isn’t even wide enough to walk on. Some improvements in recent years though.

Though I remember it being quite narrow, could’ve been a canal

Pretty much every Irish town or city does a bad job with its waterfront. Even tourist places like Kinsale and Dingle squander their spaces.
Waterford probably does the worst though.

Yeah because we don’t elect politicians who wish to build infrastructure in any shape or form, and when something attractive is proposed, it’s written off as a ‘vanity project’ by half the population.
