      I don’t believe there was any “moral” case for him repaying it, contrary to what the DG in the article states.
      It was RTE’s decision to grant him the payment.

      Now, there may well be an ulterior motive for him paying it back, such as a desire to get back on the air, or simply an attempt to clean his reputation… but the issue here is with how RTE conducted its business, rather than Tubirdy’s taking of the deal offered.

      I’m no fan of him, but he should have kept it if he had no obligation to return it. The people who gave that money, the people running RTE at the time should be liable. Ryan Tubridy was just a contractor.
      You’ve Dee Forbes there pretending to be sick so she doesn’t have to face the music. It’s a fucking joke.

      I don’t like the guy personally, but the overpayment was RTE’s eff-up… and they were rewarded with a 725 million bail out. THAT should be the real story.

      Has anyone had the misfortune of reading his London diary thing? It’s like a child’s school trip diary-entry, beyond cringe.

      Is Dee Forbes still „sick“? Galls me that her job was paid so well, as she would have to take responsibility and accountability for the organisations success or failings.

      But as soon as accountability was knocking at her door, she locked the door and left by the back window.

      Glad he repaid it, but he did what he did and got caught out. Why should he be given a ’second chance‘ when there’s heaps of talented Irish people who haven’t even gotten their ‚first‘ chance. Fuck that.

      Id have personally remortgaged my house and paid €150,000 to have that insufferable, egotistical, dose taken off radio and TV.

      Fantastic end result.

      Out of curiosity, how much is he getting paid now? The whole justification RTÉ gave was he’d be sniped by a UK broadcaster if they didn’t come up with the dodgey funds.

      Edit: Turns out he’s on £50k -£80k. So less than 20% of his peak salary and half to a third of the salary RTÉ had signed him to before they were forced to dump him.
