Are you ready for their line of thinking? Because I sure as shit wasn’t when I asked a family friend, who is a die-hard Trumper, what he had to say on the matter. „Well, the Clintons did it! They raped kids too, so why should I stop supporting him because he did the same thing?“

Americans are slowly beginning to realize that many of their fellow citizens prefer authoritarianism when it’s targeted at people they dislike, and that nothing will dissuade them from that support. And that this very much connects to politics throughout history.

This isn’t a shock at all. The hate and fear they’ve manufactured over „the other team“ (left, trans, foreign, doesn’t really matter specifically) outweighs everything else. They’ve won the information warfare game. Even with Trump out of office, that will persist.

We have an extremely difficult struggle ahead of us, but the only chance we would have of fixing this country is to win back the information battleground.

It’s because they have been brainwashed their entire lives to believing liberals are the literal devil. No matter what any republican could do- it’s nothing compared to the evil (usually made up) things liberals have done.

It was never about the deep state and always about their deep hate for minorities.

You embraced this Rs, so you get the branding that comes with this. Despicable people who only care about power and money, and diddling kids.

Power, position, and “winning” are more important to conservatives than values. It has always been thus, it’s just getting more easy to see through the façade of vapid religious bullshit they try to veil it with.

Grew up with a conservative family. Was a conservative for most of my early life, have lived in exclusively red states all my life.

What you need to understand is they think Democrats/Liberals/Leftists (all the same thing to them) are fundamentally evil people. I went to a Church once where an associate pastor voted Democrat, the congregation genuinely did not understand how he could be a Christian and vote Democrat. It wasn’t that they were just surprised that his beliefs were different, it’s that they were incompatible.

They think on a moral level, not being a Republican means you are a bad person. Not well intentioned and wrong, bad. Evil.

This was about 17 years ago. It’s almost definitely gotten worse.

For a large amount of them there is no line in the sand because the line was at the starting point, the simple yes no question of “Are you a Republican?” And if you answer correctly to that question you are blessed and condoned no matter what because to them, a Republican is a righteous position.

This is why I don’t abide by the „we have to listen to the other side“. They are going to make the wrong decision no matter what you say to them. Leave them in the rear view mirror.

No, 47% of them are honest with themselves and/or the pollsters. There are certainly some who know it would be perceived as wrong and lied to the pollsters. Then there are some who haven’t admitted to themselves that they’re in so deep that they ultimately won’t care. Lastly there are those who wouldn’t right now but will inevitably be convinced by the right-wing propaganda machine.

He has gleefully admitted to sexually assaulting women. He has admitted to sexual attraction to his own daughter. He was found liable for rape in civil court and ordered to pay damages. His cult does not care.

Of course. They hate “libs” more than they hate pedos.
