Nimbys rewarded again. What is with every govt loving to give bribes and bungs. Winter fuel is a bribe. So is this.

Not surprised about this:

Let me guess – not the energy firms reducing prices but the government giving them our money again.
Maybe they should also be given a pair of really long jumper leads. Would charge the EV in 30 seconds, also make a nice outdoor firepit.
Surely this means that living next to a nuclear plant in the UK, I should receive a subsidy too right?
Now I know people don’t like this, but lets not pyl on them.
Farmers have always been paid for pylons crossing their land the payment is called wayleaves.
Wish they would fix all the fleeceholds before they started on this. I guess the fleeceholders grease better than the power companies.
If I wasn’t a radio amateur I’d have no problem living next to high voltage transmission lines (they can cause interference).
I’d also have no problem living near a nuclear power plant.
But then again I’m not exactly a normal person 😂

If it brings communities onboard with new infrastructure projects like pylons then I think it’s a great idea
So everyone else on the country has to pay higher bills to accommodate them.
People next to the pylons aren’t going to change their minds and everyone else is going to be pussed off paying for them. This government is possibly the least effective political machine to ever grace our parliament.
Throwing votes hand over fist to reform with idiotic idea after idiotic idea.
People will oppose everything if you let them, and nothing will get done.
I live near the route of the power lines going into Norfolk and the Lincs Reform cult are all all jumping up and down about it, and don’t get them started on solar.
Personally, it doesn’t bother me as this infrastructure and net zero is vitally important.
Worth mentioning that there was a play about this and the high rates of cancer diagnosis.
