Mostar is where after the war they built a statue of Bruce Lee because no one could agree on another figure to build a statue of that wouldn’t upset any of the involved parties

Well for an old bridge that thing was very sturdy, I’m guessing that was just dudes wanting to destroy shot and not a strategic decision?
There is a persistent myth that a German tv crew paid the Croats 10000 Marks to destroy the bridge. Don’t know the source, but I heard it already the late ’90s, and then repeated ever since.
I was there 2 years ago. The bridge has been reconstructed and now there are so many tourist on it that my first thought was a couple people more and it’s gonna collapse again
I remember that, it was one of the oldest bridges in the world. It was rebuilt after the war.

The Old Bridge was a 16th-century Ottoman structure, renowned for its architecture and considered a symbol of Mostar and its multicultural past.
Tough ass bridge.
That’s a gorgeous place. What a shame for it to be destroyed. That bridge literally looks like it couldve been on a tourism advertisement
