Israel’s Leviathan gas partners have signed a record $35 billion deal to export 130 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Egypt through 2040.

The deal will nearly triple the annual gas supply to Egypt and is expected to significantly boost Israeli state revenue from royalties and taxes.

It will begin in 2026 and expand in 2029, with infrastructure upgrades enabling up to 13 bcm per year.

Despite domestic concerns over future shortages, the deal strengthens Egypt’s role as a regional energy hub and supports Israel’s energy sector growth.

Interesting that this comes during such a supposedly tense time between Israel and Egypt, over the war in Gaza.

„Israel will become like apartheid South Africa if they keep defending themselves“ yapping as always, amounting to nothing.

Already today, the Egyptian gas economy is almost entirely dependent on gas from Israel. This was seen several months ago when production disruptions at the Leviathan and Karish fields forced the diversion of more gas from the Tamar field to the domestic Israeli economy, and many parts of Egypt went into darkness.
