I think this is not such a profound idea in and of itself, but I’m glad this is being discussed. I had proposed this idea in a class discussion once where we talked about preservation of old structures and how indigenous knowledge systems had prepared ways to do it, which will obviously be benefit from larger climate change mitigation measures as well.

In my hometown there are some houses and structures which are from the Mughal period in India. They have been degrading just like other structures of stone and mud, however, the local artisans have been trained in the traditional methods of preservation of buildings while mixing some modern tech.

I think while looking at mitigation we should include a participatory model which enables integration of local knowledge systems.
