Es soll Etemyan oder Edemyan buchstabieren, das mit ‚Eden‘, dh Garden of Eden, verbunden sein soll. Es ist angeblich mein Nachname, bevor es aus Angst vor Verfolgung verändert wurde.
Ich bin mir jedoch nicht sicher, ob es richtig geschrieben wurde. Ich habe Bilder geteilt, dass es mit 2 verschiedenen Handschriftstilen geschrieben wird, um zu vermeiden

It’s definitely Etemian (in Western Armenian)
Interesting that it ends with -իան and not -եան
The second letter is a D and not a T
It says Etemian.
I think I see where the confusion is coming from.
If you post to Armeniansglobal, there are more Western Armenians there. Personally, one of the reasons I would rather answer there is because questions like this are often deleted here as they aren’t about the country of Armenia. It is frustrating to write a detailed explanation and then have the post locked.
Has your family immigrated to the US? If yes, what was the English spelling of their last name at the arrival?
If they are from Western Armenia, there is a higher probability that this last name is based on Turkish word Etim ( orphan), rather than Armenian word Edem ( gardem of Eden).
