“Ottawa” you mean the liberal party of Canada? More deflection for the party that has been in power for over a decade making horrible decision after horrible decision

      >“But immigration is a public good, not a private toy,” Fortin said. “The employer gets all the benefits and the rest of society is burdened with all the time and costs for the successful integration of the newcomers, in the form of housing, services and social and cultural integration.”

Yeah and that’s why this article would never be printed in a Postmedia paper if the CPC were in government.

Postmedia is happy to stir up nativism when it’s a convenient rhetorical cudgel, but the above description of our immigration issues (offloading the burden from businesses to society) sounds like a conservative dream.

I’ve found one area that there is a ton of agreement on is the hatred around the Temporary Foreign Worker Program/LMIA Process and other federal and provincial equivalent programs that have become nothing more than cheap exploitable labour pipelines.

      These aren’t pro-migrant and they aren’t pro-working class.

These programs have also highlighted just how much control the business lobby has on our politics at not just federal but provincial levels.

People want the fraud, abuse, and exploitation to stop.

They want the businesses committing LMIA fraud to be punished.

They want the immigration consulting sphere to have investigations and prosecutions for again those scamming the system.

Summer jobs in the service industry exclusive? Sure for some… but myself and many others either worked construction during increased demand or in factories as coverage for holidays that people took during summer months
