A politician not happy about a court decision has the choice of appealing to it, but whining about it and saying „I’ll do whatever I want to do“ is borderline dictatorial.
There’s a reason why our society tries as much as possible to separate politics from the legal system.
To Ford, “trampling on people’s rights” means preventing him from killing cyclists so that more drivers can be stuck in the same traffic.
The facts of the decision found that Ford was told, not only by his own staff but by a hired gun consultant, that his bike lane idea would kill some of his constituents and have no benefit. He pushed it through anyway. Keep that decision making in mind when assessing what he says about a 401 tunnel.
He will waste Ontarians‘ taxpayers‘ money fighting these challenges in court, and will lose, just like all the consumer carbon tax suits.
To his base it looks like he is doing something. To everyone else it is a waste while the province burns.

Wow, that’s a more self aware moment than I had expected from Ford, he’s finally realising that stripping out bike lanes tramples on people’s S7 rights, and is an absolutely ridiculous thing to do!
Oh, wait, I read that wrong, Ford is complaining about the court decision, not the stupid ripping out the bike lanes one, my bad. He’s still the same as he ever was.

True. A Hwy 401 tunnel is absolutely possible. It’s just going to take a stupidly long amount of time and large amount of money to create the same amount of gridlock we already have a few years after construction is completed. Feasibility isn’t the main reason the tunnel is a dumb fucking idea, cost benefit is.

First I’ve heard of that, and the first positive aspect to this tunnel I’ve heard of. I doubt it compensates for the rest of the failings, but if the project was purely about a train, it might be a worthwhile one. It isn’t likely, but it just enters the realm of possibility.
