First, I’m not sure that the idea of these hominins using boats, or directable rafts, should be as easily dismissed as this article seems to do. If they managed several deep ocean Crossings, the idea of inadvertent rafting seems to be a bit of a stretch. It’s not impossible, of course, but it seems to me unlikely
Second, this is a *great* quote:
