A finnish soldier gets a smile from me.

Any NATO soldier would get the same treatment.

If they stay for long, they should be required to learn the language and integrate to the society. Like all immigrants.

Finland is in NATO now, a choice that was made. The American soldiers are our allies and should be respected as much as the Finnish ones do.

    4. Absolutely makes sense. Any judgement towards individual US soldiers would be insanely counter productive and dumb. They’re here literally on the pretense of protecting our borders. They are allies and the soldiers themselves should be treated as such.

If you have criticisms of the current political office, direct that to the relevant people.

    5. I get the feeling that FDF officers know how bad reputation US grunts have. It won’t get better with propaganda.

    6. When they get drunk and end up doing all sorts of shite it won’t be as pretty 🙊

You won’t be the first or the last to see that side of stationed troops.

    7. I do want to encourage everyone who bumps into these chappies to not let the tolerance go too far. If they’re misbehaving, please do call them out on it, including when they’re out of uniform. They should be reported for behavior unbecoming to a guest in the country. We all know the stories about how the US *doesn’t* deal with those reports but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be made. Demand exactly the same level of respect for the civilian population and establishments that you would expect of everyone coming into the country (and a little more because soldiering is about discipline) but also of your own forces when they’re abroad.
