Hahahahahhaha, yeah right. It will be defunded before it even starts if the orange man can grift the money into his pockets.

Not sure how exactly we’re to do that when you just slashed NASA’s budget and ended a bunch of other missions.

Sure, when’s Starships next explosion scheduled for by the way? I say that because Elon and his pedo president pal defunded and destroyed NASA, even more than republicans have already managed to gut science since the Reagan admin. What an absolute joke, go see what actual people in science are saying right now, it’s no longer what can we do, it’s what can we preserve. The garden is on fire.

      race,beat.

As a nation of immigrants, the US‘ sole means of uniting its people and attracting immigrants is the slogan „We always win the race.“

Having won WW2 and the Cold War, the US truly believed it would continue to win. its short history is filled with „victories.“

It’s hard to imagine the backlash this country would feel if it discovered it had failed.

    5. Ridiculous. What’s the point of having a nuclear reactor on the moon and no one able to get there to use the power? The US can barely get to LEO at 400 km as it is. Duffy is an idiot.

Most of their talent just walked out of the building and their funding is cut to pieces. Also this is a stupid idea. It heralds the end of American space dominance.

Can we stop posting this copium? It’s never happening with the anti-science administration.

Space race? That race was won by soviet union. On multiple fronts. First man. First woman. Lots of other firsts. But you know, usa decided to change the goalposts to landing on the moon. So moon race was won by usa. Now it’s nuclear reactor on the moon race.

This is the kind of BS Roscosmos puts out to fluff up the Russian space program. Petty Authoritarians and their lickspittles are the same all over the world

I honestly never thought I’d live to see the day when an administration turned NASA into a goddamn hollow joke.

Theyre probably referring to a fusion reactor, not fission. The moon is rich in heavier H isotopes. There is no race for this, its clickbait. There are no energy requirements there.

I don’t see the importance of being first at doing either this or that anymore. It’s important to do it right. The political play to demonstrate technical supremacy may have been a thing during the cold war but that was then and this is now. Play the long game, not the short race.
