      >A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes

    2. Pallywood has been operating at full steam since October 7th – the same guy who keeps appearing in photos of people who have “died” has “died” like nine times now.

It’s a weird position to be in, not being able to trust anything that comes out of this conflict, yet everybody around me is constantly trying to shove it in my face and down my throat

Everyone and their grandma knows this. Only the „useful idiots“ as Hamas calls them, parrots the whole „Israel is starving Gazans“

    5. That doesn’t change the fact that there is mass starvation and killing happening.

    6. For me, it’s not even about who lie because, let’s be honest. Both sides probably lie. Sure, Hamas lies more but what did you expect of terrorists ?
The real deal for me is : why everyone talk about this conflict all the time ?
There are conflicts everywhere and some really more awful in term of death toll (Yemen for exemple).
Why the fuck everyone talk about Israel and Gaza ?

Of course, I know the answer but I wish politics would stop pretending like they care about palestinians when it’s about their agenda…

I’ve stopped trusting a thing coming out of the media for this. I don’t trust the IDF, I don’t trust Hamas, I don’t trust journalists. When this has settled down in a few years I think it will be possible to sift through reports to see what’s true, what’s a lie, and most often what is a blending of the two. Other than that I think trusting anything right now is a surefire way to go nuts.

I will say though that I once attended a lecture by a man who was doing some sort of reporting in a warzone. I can’t remember where it was. The man said that a child had been injured or upset by a bomb strike, but was generally not too badly hurt. A journalist said they wanted to do a report on the strike. The man watched the journalist sit the child down and then rub Ash and dirt over the child’s face, before taking a photo. It ended up being front page news.

Ever since I heard that, I stopped believing that journalists in warzones care about victims. Some of them do, but others just want headlines and money. It’s very difficult to tell which journalist is which.

EDIT: And just like the NYT article ‚debunking‘ (that term seems callous to the horrible situation but I can’t think of another one), people are missing the point again. This PARTICULAR issue is not about whether or not Gaza is starving. Its that a journalist bent in front of kids, told them to act like they’re desperate to get food, and then published it under the pretence this was children scrambling over themselves to get to food in front of them, when all that was before them was a journalist.

I dont know how to get across to people that this particular issue is bigger than Gaza. Its about how people we should be able to trust are manipulating our emotions and perspectives of the situation so that we end up feeling and thinking how the journalist wants us to.

If you let this slide when it comes to Gaza, don’t complain when one day it affects a news story closer to home.

    8. Good thing there are multiple overlapping sources from both parties in the conflict as well as neutral organizations such as the UN, doctors without borders, world food kitchen, and more.

    9. I don’t doubt Hamas are trying to deceive people. They are evil.

However, most of Gaza has been levelled and many western doctors are reporting that children are starving.

    10. So says the Israeli news, I wonder which side they are leaning too.

How about.. YOU LET INTERNATIONAL JOURNALISTS ENTER GAZA WITHOUT GETTING KILLED 176 so far

Yeah, no shit. If you filtered out the internet screaming, it was obvious as day.

edit: oh, and just for the record, nobody who opens their mouth about it, knows what’s actually going on in gaza

Not saying this is true, but if they’re saying these are photos of staged photos being taken it’s not much of a logical leap to question whether these could be staged photos of staged photos being taken.

    13. Constant_Section1491 on

I don’t give a fuck whether they staged hunger or not when there are millions actually starving there.

    14. There are loads of accounts, seemingly from Gaza posting on Xitter, writing elaborate stories about how they can count their ribs, and feel light headed etc. The post is almost always accompanied by a picture and a link where you can donate to them on gofundme or chuffed.

People comment and apparently even donate, but if you think about it for a moment, the issue that is highlighted is that there is no food. How does having more money help? Some respond how local traders are driving up the cost. What traders? Hamas? All the fund raising appears to then be going directly to Hamas.

Hamas should give up. They are terrible at running a government. They should start a PR agency or something, as that appears to be something they have proven themselves of being really good at.

    15. If only western journalists could enter the Gaza strip and film all the fat kids over there, so weird Israel doesn’t let them in.

    16. This was always obvious. If there is starvation in Gaza WHY DO THEY HAVE TO DO THESE THINGS.

Imagine if we could just live in a world where everyone was Jim carrey in liar liar. Or at least everyone who worked in news/media.
