Bondis Obama Grand Jury: Der autoritäre Moment, den wir alle befürchtet haben | Es geschieht offiziell: die Verwendung der Gerechtigkeitsmaschinerie, um Expeditionen über politische Vorgänger zu fischen. Absoluter Wahnsinn.

I’m so glad we’ve made this precedent. This is how the US will be until it becomes a new country.

He literally said he was going to do it. And millions of Americans shouted ‚Hell yeah!‘.

The slippery slope to fascism continues at pace.

      >Last month, she appeared at the White House press podium to accuse Obama, along with former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former FBI Director James Comey, of engineering a “yearslong coup” against Trump.

      >She then chimed in that the information she was releasing showed a “treasonous conspiracy” by top Obama administration officials. A few days later, Trump touted Gabbard’s comments and took it over the top, laying it on Obama himself: “It’s there. He’s guilty. This was treason.”

      >Unsurprisingly, both Trump’s and Gabbard’s treason charges were constitutionally illiterate. Treason, the most serious crime a citizen can undertake against the country—and one punishable by death—is expressly defined in the Constitution, which reads: “Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

      >**************************

      >It’s difficult to overstate how dangerous this moment is. Using the machinery of criminal justice to pursue manufactured charges against political predecessors is the stuff of strongmen and collapsing democracies. From Putin’s endless prosecutions of opposition figures like the late Alexei Navalny to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s jailing of rivals and judges after labeling them coup plotters, to the cycles of vengeance in post-coup Egypt, this is the textbook authoritarian move. It corrodes trust in democratic transitions, chills dissent, and redefines political opposition as criminal subversion.

      >*************************

      >Ironically, this very kind of weaponization of law enforcement to pursue political attacks was one of the dangers the Supreme Court cited in granting Trump immunity for official acts. Chief Justice John Roberts stressed that the rule was essential: “Without immunity, such types of prosecutions of ex-Presidents could quickly become routine … an executive branch that cannibalizes itself, with each successive President free to prosecute his predecessors, yet unable to boldly and fearlessly carry out his duties for fear that he may be next.”

These allegations are completely false, Obama did none of the things that Gabbard is accusing him of, and it was well proven that Russia did interfere in the 2016 election to help Trump get elected.

Even if it were true the Supreme Court has already given Presidents immunity and this would definitively fall into that area, given the Court was so broad about it’s interpretation.

ALL of this theater is about deflecting attention away from Trump’s direct involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, his name being in the files numerous times confirming just how evil a predator he really is, and the coverup that is happening right in front of us.

This means they’re 100% ok with this happening to them in the future.

    5. vacant_mustache on

I don’t understand how presidents can simultaneously have “total immunity” and also imprisoned?

So glad that Biden chose Merrick Garland to slow walk all the investigations into Trump’s multiple crimes.

God forbid the Dems be seen as Partisan!!! The HORROR!

Anyways, we need to „heal“ as a country. Here’s another campaign event with liz Cheney.

    7. Illustrious-Fun8324 on

Sorry, if he had anything on Obama why did he sit on it and not release it for four years? That means he has nothing and Obama is innocent, right MAGA??!

    8. The revenge presidency. It will only get worse. If Trump could go after the dead he would.

    9. Crewmember169 on

Can’t wait until some 4chan user creates images of AOC hanging out with Epstein. Bondi will be all over it.

    10. It is not just the trump administration. The entire republican party has been aiding and abetting trump since the beginning of his first term. Furthermore they have been longingly eyeing fascism since reagan and bush illegally sold arms to Iran and funneled that money to the contras then let north take the fall for reagan’s crime. trump is just the latest symptom of the cancer.

    11. A prosecutor can take a grand jury anywhere he or she wants so expect the worst

    12. IntelligentStyle402 on

Looks like our felon and rapist is also going after Bill and Hillary. Yes, we were told this would happen at a Harris rally. Obama and Hillary were correct on everything.

    13. I_who_have_no_need on

That was quick. We have already reached the show trials stage of the regime.

    14. siggywithit on

This will backfire badly for republicans. Obama remains wildly popular. Moderates and Indy’s do not like overreach and an bi partisan committee led by Rubio already found no wrong doing. Let the GOP douche bags dig their grave

    15. I don’t think they’ll actually charge Obama with any crimes.

But I do think they’ll drag this investigation out for 3-4+ years before fully exonerating him and his admin.

    16. A grand jury is not going to indict obama. They will fail, and it will be bad for them.

They have not even said what the crime is, or why the brand new Trump-created “presidential immunity” suddenly doesn’t apply to Obama.

    17. BobsonQwijibo on

Treason consists of acts against the country. Them claiming that anything that happened while Trump was a candidate was treason is some real cultish “L’État, c’est moi” thinking from the orange man group. Acting like he was the government all along.

    18. Logical-Witness-3361 on

Would Obama getting charged for treason be the straw that broke the camel’s back and inspire the last of us sitting around to actually get up and do something?

    19. It would be very funny if they couldn’t build a good enough case to proceed…

    20. semiarboreal on

It’s going to be very important when all this is said and done that we start pushing our representatives to write laws which clearly state the boundaries around these agencies with respect to the different branches of government and clearly indicate what is legal and what is illegal, not just assume public pressure will cause all parties involved to act in good faith. We should never have been able to get in a situation where the president can just brazenly attack political opponents or ignore other branches of government or start wars (economic or physical) with no checks in place or any of the other questionable (at a minimum) things being done by the Trump administration.

    21. Doesn’t Obama have immunity because SCOTUS and their ass kissing?

Let them do it – paves the way really nicely to do it again in 2028 of every trump admin and family member involved in both terms.

Fuck the high road until every Republican pedo is in jail.

    22. Something something Supreme Court something something can’t be prosecuted for acts committed while president… tip of my tongue…

    23. They tried to impeach Joe Biden for loaning his brother money and paying his sons bills while he was in rehab. They had ten committees investigate Hillary over Benghazi for close to a year and found nothing. This isn’t a new tactic.

    24. RebelliousInNature on

So, Don, THIS *is* a witch hunt. A nothingburger.

      How bout those Epstein files?

    25. While they can’t go after Obama himself, they will go after the people of his administration who are not protected.

    26. Justcoffeeforme on

      Donald Trump is a pedophile

“I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.“

    27. RaspberryLess4626 on

Go get whoever you want. Nobody cares anyway.
      Release the Epstein files.

    28. TheRealBlueJade on

Not really. He can’t prosecute as the president is immune. If he does, it sets a precedent that he himself can be prosecuted.
