Export taxes on potash, etc. Equivalent to the amount of tariffs.

Makes sense, tariffs are a tax on Canadians and only a total moron would blanket their country with tariffs

As a life long forestry worker in BC I have to say cutting back on the harvest in a significant way is a good thing. Our forests need a break. They need to be allowed to regrow. 30 years ago BC had more milling capacity than fibre growing capacity. IMHO our forests are showing the signs of over harvesting all over the the interior of the province.

I’m assuming dairy for sure. Canada having a 200% tarrifs on US dairy for a decade is insane.

I understand our government 🇨🇦 is having difficulties negotiating with a madman. I don’t envy them, so I’m willing to support Canada in every way I can. Some Canadians choose to criticize Carney from their armchairs. I’ll believe Carney.

We can lose some battles to win the war.
That being said, each withdrawal must contribute to the overall war goals.

I don’t get why we tariff them. That just hurts the people. Increase their energy prices! And oil prices!

Anyone saying Canada is “bending the knee” to the U.S. clearly doesn’t live in reality. Canada’s economy is welded to America’s, Canada NEEDS to come to terms and salvage the relationship. Nearly 80% of everything Canada exports goes to the U.S., and Americans are their biggest customers by a mile. That trade is worth hundreds of billions of dollars a year, money that funds Canadian jobs, pays for social programs, and keeps the already suspect economy afloat. Throwing that away isn’t “standing up to America”, it’s national suicide. Only someone completely clueless about economics would even suggest it. Like it or not, Canada needs to protect that relationship because without it, they’d be in a full‑blown economic crisis before the year was over.
Canada can punch back and without a doubt hurt the U.S., but the U.S. could just drop a missile in retaliation.

Drop the tariffs and raise the export taxes on energy and potash.

PM Carney should tell 47 that we understand :
– his good goal to expand USA economy
– that he doesn’t need Anything we sell
– we can offer to let 47 BlameCanada! for upcoming high Inflation by
=> putting 35%(?) ExportTaxes on what we sell to USA
– ExportTaxes will allow us to Not tariff the excellent USA products that we need to import
