The Department of Energy Fusion Energy Sciences Advisory Committee in 2020 published a new long-range plan — “[Powering the Future: Fusion and Plasmas](https://usfusionandplasmas.org/)” — that details the research facilities that could help all fusion energy companies deploy power plants and scale more quickly. But it’s China, not the U.S., that’s building these research test stands and facilities the U.S. fusion industry needs to accelerate fusion’s deployment and rapid scaling.
Energy unlocks prosperity for people, businesses and nations. Whoever controls that energy commands an outsized impact on the world and on the future of everyone who lives on it. Right now Washington is focusing on American energy dominance, powering AI and improving energy security. It’s clear what the government could do to cultivate that instead of its present course that fails to respond to Chinese energy dominance for fusion.
Tell trump and Maga that coal is the source of energy in fusion and you will get all the money you need.

That‘s not even a drop in the bucket when it comes to fusion energy.
China is investing heavily in the future. It has a very science and engineering oriented approach to development. It has a very forward thinking leadership. The US is quickly ceding its role as a global leader across a variety of metrics.
Not sure the current US governments focus is energy efficiency. Seems their focus is perhaps the opposite.
There is a ton of fusion investment strategies in America and the department of energy national labs have successfully developed and implemented fusion. The trick is commercializing and shrinking it I believe one of the last successful implementations was the size of 3 football fields. Billions have been invested in this and china is catching up. Fusion commercialization (outside the lab being used to power AI and other technologies) is not far away probably between 2030 – 2035

Brainwashing yourself about how „fusion is gonna save the world“ is just hopium to ignore the obvious fact that we’re hitting planetary limits and that we cannot keep on extracting more (even if we keep on ignoring the obvious and devastating consequences).

Tariffs? I assume you mean tariffs and reports of unemployment going down. Just like in putinland. The past always looks so obvious and we fail to realize that slipping into a crazy future is a gradual crack in normality that just grows every day.

It’s not only fusion…China is investing heavily in all renewable energy sources and projects.
Look up the Yarlung Zangbo hydropower project. It makes the Three Gorges Damn look puny.
China is projected to have well over 2TW of renewable energy by 2030, they’re already over 1TW.
The U.S. is ~300GW and isn’t even projected to be at half a TW by 2030.
There is no comparison, China is green and the U.S. is brown/black.
What all the pro military republicans are missing is that energy is the future of security. Both offensively and defensively. As much as I hate to admit it, as energy technology improves, so will its weaponization. Look at what Ukraine is doing to Russia with tiny electric drones.
Fusion is woke. True Americans want coal and fossil fuels!
Or we can let them get it and then steal the tech from them just like they do to us for 99.99999999% of things.
