The media urge to be fair is just „both sides“ are the same and not taking a stand on the truth.
Since when did the media get the idea that „fair“ means „treat with kid gloves and be nice“? Fair is tell me the unvarnished truth no matter what it is.
Being fair to Trump would mean that he’s held accountable for his growing list of crimes that literally any other American would have been behind bars for multiple lifetimes. Release the Epstein files.

The language of the right is enforced (e.g. „big beautiful bill“) by newspaper editors hired by those owners.
Anyone even remotely progressive gets fired or demoted without clear reason (Hasan, Joy, Acosta).

In the comment section of my local news, there are always about a dozen dipshits who claim EVERYTHING about Trump is fake news. Even stuff that is a complete fact, they immediately dismiss everything…
For example: Trump went on a golf trip… the immediate response is FAKE NEWS.

They aren’t trying to be fair – they are trying to stay engaged. Realistic viewpoints on the current administration have caused outlets to be cut off. If an outlet loses access to the WH they are boned. It is straight up fascist playbook stuff – report favorably on Dear Leader or become an enemy of the state.
The main problem is that media outlets are owned by billionaires, people who are probably on a first-name basis with donald.
The combined reach of Meta, X, News Corp and Sinclair defines „mainstream media.“ They set the narrative that smaller outlets can only respond to, and they are each pro-trump propaganda outlets.
And recently, CBS News capitulated and trump is imposing a komissar on them. They can no longer be trusted to report objectively.
Another problem is this idea of „fairness“ when dealing with a fascist. trump and his movement are objectively bad for this country, to put it mildly, and „fairness“ in this case is the equivalent of sanewashing and whitewashing something truly, objectively, abhorrent.
