    1. This is not a new or amazing hypothesis. It’s so obviously paint via draping on a sculpture or otherwise.. And a lot of evidence backs that up.

    2. I honestly didn’t know anybody besides some Christians thought it was the image of a real human.

The Shroud of Turin wasn’t even universally accepted as legitimate within the Catholic Church when it first entered the historical record. Color me shocked that the image on it might not be real

i thought there was already a pretty good glut of evidence for this already

There was a massive, lucrative industry from about 200 AD on producing fake religious artifacts, every noble and knight who hit the holy land „discovered“ something. The natives made bank on it. I’m amazed anyone thought that was real. As an artist I knew it was fake the moment I saw the first photo of it.

The proof that it’s fake is that a self-taught graphic designer says the image doesn’t match his simulations in Blender and all the Reddit users applaud.
Meanwhile, no one has been able to accurately replicate the image, not even with 21st-century technology.

Even the Catholic Church recognizes it as an artistic expression, and not a holy relic

    8. I got to see it on tour when it was shown in Santa Barbara, CA, in the early eighties. My preacher family member was creaming himself. I wasn’t impressed, nor did I believe it was real. Xian people are so gullible.

The final defense of this object is always that the image itself is a miracle and doesn’t have to correspond to any conventional understanding of how it could have been created.

The shroud of turin is a real headscratcher. literally everything about it PROVES it has to be a later forgery… and yet they extracted pollen from it that was dated to the correct century.
