We need more actors trash talking the common man. I’m not being sarcastic, I genuinely like when actors call stupid people stupid and don’t have to worry about career repercussions.
People always talk about uncut gems and I get it great performance but one of Sandler’s performances that always stuck out for me was Funny People.
What’s wrong with being a goofy comedian?
Most actors just play a version of themselves. It’s such a weird criticism. Of course, there are guys like Gary Oldman who transform themselves for a role, but everyone else is still acting to show emotion or genuine-seeming reactions and line delivery, but in a way that’s similar to how they normally talk or act.
People shit on Sandler because of his low effort comedies, if he has actual talent, it makes it worse IMO.

Between Punch Drunk Love, and uncut gems. I actually like Sandler more as a dramatic actor than a comedian.
Being funny is really hard. Being able to have a performance like the one in uncut gems is really hard as well.
A lot of actors have made a career just being different versions of themselves, that’s just how it is and there’s nothing wrong with it. Ultimately they’re selling a product, it’s a business.
Good for Clooney and Sandler, excited to see them on screen together.

I think i’m going to throw on Oceans 11…again. Mainly because I enjoy watching George Clooney be George Clooney.
People should have stopped giving a shit about what George Clooney says after he did his part to shit all over Joe Biden last year. F him and every other rich white dude who was online calling for Joe to drop out.
I like both Clooney and Sandler but Sandler has definitely shown more range than Clooney. I’m having trouble thinking of movies where Clooney behaves differently than most his movies. You want to see the sand man flex his chops for drama just watch Regin on Me. It has funny parts but it’s by no means a comedy and after I watched it I went okay not shit talking his skills again as an actor.
Clooney however has shown that he is a great director so even if he is type cast for all the same roles and gives similar performances he has shown his skills behind the camera are pretty top notch.
Isn’t it known that comedy actors are more than capable of knocking it out of the park in a serious role? The two faces of the fine art logo are happy and sad.
Its much harder for the drama actor to do comedy bit it comes natural for comedians because in order to be able to laugh at your self, you had to have to suffer first
George Clooney failed to advocate for a candidate that could win in 2024. Biden was not a candidate that could win well, but he did not say shit when they annointed the VP with 30% or less popularity the entire term, offering no real reform of substance and not attacking any of the interests screwing us in a time of anger and upheaval.
Running as status quo and allowing the Republicans to run as reform. I knew it was going to fail, how did this guy not know?
I like him, but he needs to take responsibility and fix his behavior so this does not happen again. Because the same people control the Democratic Party and now it will be a thousand times harder to take the country back given the whole rigging of Elections the Republicans are openly planning on doing.
Adam Sandler is so great always imo. Light hearted, funny guy always brings the nostalgia of 90s films

Well, I totally agree with him about Adam. Starting with Punch Drunk Love and ending with Uncut Gems, so far. Who thought 25 year old me would say Adam is actually the better actor, but here we are, and I’m glad a guy like Clooney is smart enough to admit it.
You can’t watch Reign over me and say Sandler can only do comedy. I don’t think anyone actually says that. Clooney is arguing against a straw man.
Reign over me, Uncut Gems and Hustle are the only movies I actually enjoy watching Sandler in, and he does really well in all of them, the comedies are not for me. But he really shows that he a great actor in them.
Leave Sandler alone, he’s a very accomplished con artist. Think about how many faded 90s comedians he’s keeping rich by filming a vacation while getting a tax write off! The man’s a genius.

Hot take: I don’t care if they’re playing ‘themselves’ (an idealised version of themselves) so long as that self is fun and works with the plot written.
I don’t care Will Smith is playing himself in most of those movies, most of those movies are bangers.
Clooneys best role was “Burn After Reading”
