Our freedoms are dispersing at lightning speed. I don’t want to scare people but I’m seeing a future developing before our eyes where this regime strips away all rights for citizens. A future where opposing or even criticizing will punish people or send people to prison. I’ve never been more worried about what’s coming.

Legitimate curiosity here – if they stop having elections, or just start having elections that do not have plausible results – won’t society eventually bristle at that and stop accepting the authority of an illegitimate ruling class? Like or do they just think that it will be accepted like ok that’s how it is in the USA now oh well?

I suppose tldr: if there were no elections wouldn’t that undermine their goals because the population would probably flip out?

When he was at a conservative convention or rally and said something along the lines of:

„Just come out and vote one last time. This is the last time youre gonna have to do it. Just this last time.“

Conservatives were playing defense for him and saying that he was implying he wouldn’t be able to run again as that was his 2nd term, hence the 2028 election wouldn’t matter to him.

But now we know what he really meant, dont we? Not that we didn’t know previously….

This has been coming for a very long time. I have yet to see the American people do anything but go out and protest on a Saturday or Sunday a couple of times.

The no kings protest and the other one was good, but you can’t just have a leisurely protest once every couple of weeks and expect anything to happen. So far the American people have just accepted whatever Trump threw at them. How much longer will you do that?

By the way, the world (and especially your allies) are not just pissed at your country for whatever Trump does and for reelecting this buffoon. We’re also stunned and dismayed by the near complete lack of pushback from the American public. It’s one thing to be the losing side in an election. It’s another to let them dismantle your entire democracy and destabilise the world. Over 70 million people voted for Harris. When will you start pushing back? Really start pushing back?

I’ve heard plenty of excuses, the most common one being “we have to work”. Just ponder on this a little and ask yourself whether “I knew what was happening and let the new Nazis with their head pedo set up their regime and dismantle our democracy because I just had to work. I mean at least I didn’t get fired, and I was always appropriately outraged”. About the last part: you weren’t. Otherwise you would’ve done more.

Time for the free world to remove the United States from the school books …

All these comments are so disheartening…we aren’t going to stop authoritarianism by declaring defeat in advance.

Too many of you seem ready and willing to just hand over our democracy without even putting up a fight.
