The article misses the point, Pierre isn’t saying certain people shouldn’t be allowed to run for office just that the barrier to run should be reasonably higher. Honestly this protest doesn’t hurt any of the major parties it really just hurts independents like Bonnie Critchley who legitimately want to run for office but gets swept up in the hundreds of „independent“ names
I think a simple change which wouldn’t impact potential independent candidates is make sure an official agent can only work for one candidate – not hundreds.
It seems like a scam to force an artificial by-election to get a seat in a riding you don’t live in, just a few months after losing your own.
