It makes sense. I mean Trump is an idiot but the way that India has supported Russia in it’s imperialistic war on Ukraine deserves some consequences. Hopefully other Western countries go along with it
man this guy thinks he can bully the world to prop up the flailing US system. make no mistake he does not care about ukraine, he wants to divert India’s oil buying share from russia to the US and its partners for a higher price. why would India do that? why would any buyer voluntarily buy at a higher price? if he really wants to stop russian oil then he should first sanction them then tell his friends to increase the oil output to reduce market price and then Indian traders will naturally switch their buying patterns.

I think at this point he’s going to make it impossible for Modi to actually make any concessions. Opening up the agri sector was always a no go but his constant insults mean Modi can’t really make any deals without making himself look weak which is very bad for the strongman image he has cultivated.
As for the Russian oil thing, I don’t think people are ready for supply shock that kinda reduction would bring. There is a reason this hasn’t been done yet, most of all the only Indians really benefiting from this financially are the ultra rich ones so I personally don’t care what happens. I think they should just stop buying and supplying it and watch him back down once he realizes what he has done.
