I was at that! Got the worst sunburn I ever got in my life, my scalp blistered, that’s all I remember. Great gig, I think.
That entire Pumpkins show at the Olympia is up on YouTube if you ever fancy reliving it. Super jealous that you got to see them in the 90’s!
Vintage SY there. Would have been a great gig.
Faith No More replacing RHCP is interesting given their history
Please delete this before Bohs release another jersey
I was at the Friday gig for the indoor Feile ’96: Afghan Whigs, Beck, Manic Street Preachers and Foo Fighters.
And Sugar in Dalymount Park – surprised I didn’t get a ticket to that (probably a bit too young at the time).
Chili Peppers played the following year. Ice Cube was unreal that day. I still maintain most of the crowd lost some hearing from the bass during Milquetoast by Helmet.
We used to get a a load of bands over on the Wednesday or Thursday before the Reading festival.
REM played Lansdowne the same year as Slane?
REM was with The Divine Comedy and Paddy Casey if I’m remembering right? Absolutely brilliant gig, I remember Michael Stipes asked for a moment to sit and read some poetry, but when the crowd lost interest he threw his seat across the stage in a huff! 😂
£23.75 in 1993 is €59 today. That’s just a bit more than ticketmaster service charge these days.
Hang on, Ireland v Yugoslavia in 1999?
Wasn’t the Pumpkins at the Olympia ’98 their last couple of gigs, announced well after the tickets originally went on sale so mayhem ensued with people flying in to try get returns or am I misremembering it??
Oh prime time to have seen Belly
I was at that Sunstroke festival. It was some line-up, with The Golden Horde, Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Sugar, Belly, Sonic Youth and Faith No More.
Bit strange having it on a Sunday. I think they tried it again the next year on a Thursday, but the noise pissed off the local residents too much and that was the end of that.
Mundy supported Alanis in 1996!!!? I didn’t realise he was that old
Classic , I was at most of these too.
The pumpkins gig in the Olympia was class
