      They’ve provided two examples of UK based gangs who’ve been caught by advertising their services. I guess this isnt much use for the french half of the operation

      It will be interesting to see where things are by say 2028.

      Instinctively I think Labour know this is going to wreck them at any election so I suspect they will do a lot to try and stop it.

      But it depends how cynical you are I suppose. I never really expected Labour to have done much by now.

      It’d be much more effective to go after the companies who are taking their money and *displaying* these adverts to people.

      Didn’t they get counter-terror style powers back in Jan to „Smash the Gangs“? 

      Then agree a landmark one in one out deal with France recently? 

      This is all just window dressing. As long as the outcome of crossing the channel is – 

      *Never work again (unless you want to), get priority status and live at our expense*

      This will do nothing.

      Most of the smuggling begins in their home countries and with connections of friends, families etc.

      Besides that, arresting a few advertisers does nothing to actually stop the incentive to want to enter the UK via small boat or the incredible financial incentive to smuggle someone to the UK on a small boat.

      The gangs will just move their online identities and points of contact abroad. That’s assuming they won’t be operating abroad already.

      The government will do anything but just say „no“. The reason asylum seekers come is because it’s worthwhile trying to game the system. Until that changes gesture policies like this will just waist time.

      This means nothing when most of the smugglers are not even in the uk ffs
