Cheating? How about cheating on his wife with 13-year-olds

It’s that time again to bring up Rick Reilly and his anecdotes about Trump cheating at golf.

Rick Reilly is a sportswriter, author and well known golfer who has had the misfortune (and the amusement) of sharing the fairway with Trump.

He even wrote a book about it titled, „Commander in Cheat.“

In the book he describes his experience playing golf with Trump and details the various ways that Trump cheats on the golf course.

He’s also a pretty silly dude.

> “I’ve always said golf is like bicycle shorts. It reveals a lot about a guy,” Reilly joked during his appearance. “And what it reveals about this guy is that he cannot lose. He has to win and he will do anything to cheat.”

> „And I know because I played golf with him and he took seven mulligans. He took a ‚give me chip-in.‘ I’ve never even heard of a ‚give me chip-in,'“ he added.

Reilly describes how Trump racks up tournament wins at events he’s not even present for—and how Trump often claims to have won a tournament even though he wasn’t “in the state when the tournament [was] played.“

> “What he does [is] he just calls in and goes, ‘I usually beat that guy, give me the trophy,’” Reilly alleged.

He continues:

> “And I know this because when I play with him, he goes, ‘You know what I do to win these championships, don’t ya?’ and I go, ‘Please tell me. Give it to me.’ And he goes, ‘Anytime I buy a new course, I play the first round all by myself and then I declare myself the club champion,’” Reilly continued. “So that’s what kind of guy this is.”

Trump will also „win“ championships by using an alleged score from a round of golf he played earlier in the week instead of actually participating in the current game.

Reilly also says that Trump cheats by constantly moving the ball to a better position and by taking extra strokes without counting them. Reilly tells stories of Trump flagrantly bending the rules of golf, kicking his ball back onto the fairway, and outright lying about his scores.

Trump has even reportedly earned himself the nickname „Pele“ due to his tendency to kick golf balls around.

In his book, Reilly also tells a story about how Trump recorded a „win“ by playing a round against his own wife; publicly announcing it as a victory. And this is despite reports that Melania was playing quite well at the time.

On a side note, this resembles a previously reported incident when Trump was on a ski trip in Aspen with his then wife—Ivana Trump.

Ivana is apparently a much better skier than him, and when she passed him on the slopes, he got so aggravated that he took off his skis and walked off the trail in frustration.

Onlookers even described Trump at the time as „shivering“ with anger, and not from the cold.

Now, when it comes to Trump’s *actual* game, Reilly says:

> Trump has “never won a championship at a course he doesn’t own and operate” despite claiming that he’s won 23. The author [Reilly] said Trump has played at stricter courses like Pebble Beach and Lake Tahoe and has never been in “the top half.”

He has some silly anecdotes too, like how Trump always uses a „turbo-charged golf cart that goes three times as fast“ as his opponents so he can have time to move the balls around before his competitors catch up.

Trump is also known infamously for driving his golf cart onto the greens, which is a major breach of protocol.

Reilly also said this:

> “One time in L.A. he was playing $50 a hole with these three guys. He hits it in the pond. They see the splash. By the time they get there, [the ball’s] in the middle of the fairway, and they’re like, ‘What the f— Donald,’ and then he goes, ‘It must have been the tide,’” Reilly shared.

In another incident, Trump was seen visibly throwing broadcaster Mike Tirico’s ball off the green, claiming it was an „accident.“

Reilly also talks about what he calls „the Trump bump“ where Trump tries to subtly move his golf ball to a better position when he believes no one is looking. But this move has become notoriously recognized among golfers who have played with him.

One pretty notable anecdote from Reilly’s book includes an incident where Trump cheated against a 12 year old boy during a *charity golf event*.

Ted Virtue, who is a professional golfer, decided it would be fun to bring his kid with him to play at the event, but Trump put an end to the fun after behaving more like a child than the literal child he was competing against.

Apparently, during their round, Trump hit his ball into the water on the 16th hole, but Trump’s caddy—likely at the behest of Trump—put the ball next to the hole when they reached the green; claiming it was Trump’s ball. However, when Virtue’s son recognized the ball as his own, Trump dismissed the boy and went on to win the match.

Trump has also cheated against professional players like Tiger Woods. Reilly says that when he asks these other professionals about it, they almost always answer something to the effect of, „I wanted my own story about Trump cheating.“
