Als Außenseiter fand ich es ein interessantes Kunstwerk zum ersten Mal. Als ich in seine Geschichte und was es darstellte, verstehe ich den Grund für seine Entfernung. Stimmen die meisten modernen Letten zu, dass es hätte zerstört werden sollen?

It wasn’t the relatively small lady statue that was the problem, it was the giant obelisk towering over the whole park that’s out of frame in this image.

Absolutely, yes. I grew up in Latvia and although I am ethnically Russian, I completely agree that it should have been removed. Both Soviets and Nazis committed horrible atrocities in Latvia and statues commemorating either side is a slap in the face.
Could have been removed and placed in storage or museum, but that mby was not possible due to size. But it should not have been left as is.
They can’t really have an actual impact on anything so they do shit like this and pretend it has an effect on anything at all
