Why do all those cases take so long to result in prison?

Why don’t we have mugshots in Ireland?
This lad has 65 convictions and is going to jail for rape yet you could be sitting beside him on a bus and be none the wiser.
Best we can hope for is that some photographer with RTE or one of the papers catches a shot of him running out of court with his hood up.

What a disgusting human being, that poor woman. I hope she was able to get her life back together after that extremely traumatic incident.
