    1. Bouncers at paceville are criminals who think they have a license to do whatever they want to people . There have been multiple arrests of bouncers in the past who have serverly injured people. It’s not a race thing, it’s a lack of brain cells thins, some are Maltese , some are foreign but the Maltese are the more stupid ones .

    2. About a week ago, while I was at Mater Dei for something unrelated, I met a Polish guy in the queue. He told me that he and his friend were in Paceville when, out of nowhere, some random guy walked up and punched his friend in the face before running off. That’s never happened to me, but… is this kind of thing common now?

This typical from Paceville bouncers make a police report but don’t expect much from it. Malta is well known to have a crappy lax justice system.

Probably the bouncers are unlicensed (most are) and didn’t want the police getting in to it. No evidence, nothing to report?

OP, I’m Maltese and I’m sorry this had to happen to you. That said, I don’t think the guy in the photo is Maltese.

Keep in mind that when people say that Maltese hate foreigners, it’s a harmless disdain because of overpopulation and how it’s harder to get a job these days. There are actual racists and xenophobes in a more traditional sense as well, but no more than in other countries.

Right now something’s wrong with how Malta’s being marketed because the younger tourists are wreaking absolute havock. Young tourist hotspots like PV are a drunken anarchy. What you described sounds much more like something a young tourist would do than what an actual Maltese person would do. While they young tourists are here, it’s a break from reality where rules no longer apply.

Were you aware the whole time you were at PV that most people aren’t Maltese there or have you not been here long enough to pick out a Maltese person? Maltese are a minority in places like PV and even Valletta and Sliema, especially in Summer. Chances are you’ve just been hanging around many tourists the whole time you were here and have met very few Maltese.

    6. I’m Maltese, and want to clarify that the ‘hate’ for foreigners you’re hearing about it’s more just general irritation and anger the issues currently plaguing the country (same as in other countries) and is especially not common towards S. Koreans as they are known to be very respectful and polite tourists 🙂

I’m sorry that you had this experience, it’s horrible. As far as I know, most bouncers in Paceville are foreign and many of them are also criminals too. It’s not the first time they’ve picked a fight with someone or been involved in things like this, so I would file a report with the police too.

The only thing something is resolved here is by going to the media. Try contacting Lovin Malta or Times of Malta. Sorry this happened to you.

Police report = bad publicity. Or better, more bad publicity on top of the already bad reputation.
      Bouncers are def not Maltese.
Fyi, the exact same thing happened to me in Spain.

That’s Paceville for you. You should have made a police report then and there. CCTV footage tends to „disappear“ after some days. Convenient right?
