People are still exploring the ocean, And if people did find water cave people, why would they stop exploring?
This is basically the premise behind Avatar: The Way of Water
You should read a book called the Descent, it is pretty complex but speaks to humans going underground at the time of dinosaurs and evolving. That is the basic gist of the book but it evolves into so much more, great book and read.

New subsea and subterranean expeditions are carried out all the time, frequently resulting in the discovery of previously unknown flora and fauna (both currently living and fossilized remains of extinct species), geological formations, deposits of resources, and other valuable and interesting information.

I say this as scuba diver: Nah dude. There are lots of scuba divers down there all the time. Even really really deep. And they post videos all the time, even live video feeds. People on submarines too, some people spend most of their lives underwater. There are microphones and cams down there, 24/7, all over the place. half the time it’s like hiking in a state park— beautiful, but slightly annoying how many other people are there, lol

Well it’s pretty much been witnessed multitudes of times by military & normal folks that alien UAPs live underwater off the coast of San Diego and this has been going on for quite a while and they don’t hurt us and we don’t hurt them so…🤷🏼♀️ ✌🏼
