Can someone smarter than me please assure me that this coupled with the subs news doesn’t mean we’re all about to be vaporized?

Not sure the point of these threats. They aren’t really a tangible escalation on either side, just intended to catch the headlines.
Oreshnik is supposed to be able to hit any corner of Europe within 20 minutes… inching it closer to Belarus doesn’t mean much. Kind of the same with moving US subs closer to Russia – the full ICBMs they can launch can hit anywhere in under 30 minutes. In fact, closer may make the trajectory harder.

There are alot more missiles pointed towards Russia than out of Russia

Putin love to dish out threats and most are never followed through and I am sure Belarus would rather not get dragged into war with Ukraine if it can help.

If Russia ever attacked NATO members it would cease to exist with hours. Putin knows that full well.

When Obama was in office NATO held a mock situation where Belarus is bombed with tactical nuke in the countryside to thwart a Russian counter response.

I think everyone in the Russian government is wearing beer goggles when looking at their military. At best, pathetic. Iranian drones are their only saving grace. I wouldn’t be surprised if they launched a nuke from Moscow and it did a backflip and hit st Petersburg

This was Putin’s plan all the time. Any retaliation would not be against Russia, but towards Belarus.
Putin would sacrifice Belarus to not lose support in Russia.
Belarus already has tactical nuclear weapons.
“On February 27, 2022, five days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Alexander Lukashenko held a referendum in Belarus to change Belarus‘ nuclear-free status and amend the Constitution, removing from Article 18 the phrase “The Republic of Belarus aims to make its territory a nuclear-free zone and the state a neutral state”.
Vladimir Putin said in an interview on March 25, 2023 that Russia intended to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. At the same time, information about the completion of the construction of a storage facility for nuclear warheads in Belarus was announced. In 2023, Russia immediately and officially began deploying tactical nuclear weapons (TNWs) on the territory of Belarus.”
All retaliation would be against the country of origin, which is actually Russia. And Putin can’t hide in any country that would be safe from retaliation without being arrested for his war crimes

I’ve been told over and over again that Ukraine potentially staging NATO rockets justifies Russia invading Ukraine.
But clearly NATO is now justified to invade Belarus, no?
