      He could barely make a deal with Brazil, does he really think that he will make a deal with Russia (assuming that Russia is open to one in the first place)? Or, at least, one that is not promptly violated, like Minsk 2014 was (the one that Russia signed and, later, said it wasn’t a party to it. I would link to the relevant news article, but it’s from TASS and Reddit doesn’t let me link to TASS)

      Putin does not want any peace agreement, but the surrender of Ukraine, as it did with Chechnya, in a 10-year war. Trump deludes himself, Putin wants to rebuild the Soviet Union or the Tsarist Empire. All the rest is nonsense, excuses, lies.

      He wants this cease-fire like he wants a solution to the health care crisis: if it fell into his lap, he’d take credit for it, but he has no idea what might cause it to occur.

      Putting a date on it is purely a way to keep attention on himself. As always. It has no other meaning or significance.

      Trump is showing big beautiful strength, strength so strong people can’t even believe it that he is shortening his deadline from 10 or 12 days two days ago to now only twelve days away starting maybe tomorrow. Some might even say he is so great he has shortened the deadline all the way from the first day of his presidency…

      At this point it’s clear, the Russians won’t honor any deal. This war ends when one side loses.

      That’s a tough pill to swallow, war is awful, but that’s the reality. This war ends when either Russia or Ukraine loses.
