Beim Radfahren durch Zürich bemerkte ich dieses Auto ohne Lizenzplätze und einen orangefarbenen Hinweis: „Achtung! Das Kontrolschild / Die Kontrolschilder xxx Wurden AM 31.08.2025 durch Die polizei konfiszerert“. Das hat mich gefragt, was der Grund dafür sein könnte? MOUD VOR DATUM? Viele unbezahlte Geschwindigkeitsbeines? Ich denke, das kann das kostspielig sein?

Could also be unpaid insurance. Without insurance, no license plates
When you dont pay insurance they take your plate away.
I wouldn’t say 31rd of August 2025, maybe today 31rd of July 2025? Reason?
* unpaid road tax (Strassenverkehrssteuer)
* unpaid or ended insurance (Haftpflichtversicherung)
* seized vehicle due to debt (Fahrzeug gepfändet), could be also
* outstanding leasing payments (Fahrzeug gepfändet)
* some other more serious stuff
You get 5 days notice if you dont’t pay road tax (almost happened to me when I was broke)
Don’t know all of the reasons but I know someone who let his insurance lapse so they came and took his plates.
Probably no insurance would be my guess. They can kick you out inside a 2 week window after every claim you make (every). Getting new insurance after that might be difficult/expensive sort of like after getting evicted.
That happens often to time travelers.
Will the owner now get a fine for parking in public without license plates? Because this is only legal on private parking lots… 🤔
