Apple punching air after spending the last six months shifting their US bound production from China to India specifically to avoid tariffs.

He got tired of raping people one at a time, so now he’s just giving it to America with one almighty, non-consensual pelvic thrust.

A masterclass in foreign policy. Historically refuse to sell weapons to India , but happily arm its rival instead forcing India to turn to the Soviets, because where else is it supposed to go? Decades later, its military is loaded with Russian gear, because duh. And now? They are outraged that it still uses Russian weapons and procures more for maintenance, because they already have the infrastructure for it and Russia sells them arms without any strings attached. Then dare to slap sanctions on it for maintaining the very stuff we forced it to buy. Flawless logic and hypocrisy.
Even now Western countries don’t sell weapons that India can integrate with its indigenous tech or they always come with strings attached.

What a fucking clown. I can’t help but laugh at this point. He tries to get up in every country’s business. Fucking idiot.

    5. India’s oil minister claimed in an interview that without Russian oil(and subsequent export to Europe) oil would go to $120/ barrel. Which is almost a doubling the price at the pump.

Enjoy your $7/ gallon oil if India actually does what he wants.

    6. Trump has sealed America’s (and Taiwan’s fate). A true disaster-class in policy if I have ever seen one. India will NEVER cooperate against China now, which is crazy because India views China as its #1 threat. Any hope that India would open a second front against China (or at least station massive troop build-ups to make China divert soldiers) if China was busy fighting for Taiwan in the Pacific is over.

    7. Let me fix the headline for you

‚Donald Trump is crying because India prefer to buy arms and energy from Russia so he slammed tariff against India‘

      There, fixed.

So the American importer pays a 25% tax importing Indian goods to the American government. The importer will then likely pass on that 25% tax to the American consumer.

In summary, this will just raise the cost of the good to American consumers.

He might piss off Big Pharma so much that they might actually leak the Epstein files to get this fucker impeached

    10. Yeah Yeah ‚tariff‘ is a magic word Trump learned could help progress his FUD campaign.

Let’s talk about your connections and relations with Epstein, Mr. Trump.

    11. It always sounds like we’re punishing these countries by imposing tariffs, but the reality is we’re paying the tariffs not them. The only way we’re punishing them is by making their products more expensive. So rather than buying less expensive foreign products, we’re being coerced into buying more expensive American products, if available. There’s the rub, often America doesn’t have sources for these products. What was previously manufactured in America has been outsourced to another country by the American company because it is cheaper and helps their bottom line. Automakers are dependent upon foreign suppliers for parts in Mexico and Canada, that are then imported to be assembled in American cars.

      >Donald Trump announces 25% tariff on India

The tariff is NOT on India. It is on any American or American company that buys products from India, and is a tax payable to the US Treasury when the goods arrive in the United States.

I realize most people here know this, but just in case, it’s important to know that WE (Americans) are being taxed, with a highly regressive tax, at that.

    16. Trumps tariff policy is actually quite sensible short term but will harm the US long term.

Firstly let’s be clear what a tariff is. From the perspective of an American consumer it’s a federal sales tax on a certain class of product – specifically on goods sourced from abroad.

Why is it sensible? Well federally (and for many states) the US government is living far beyond it’s means, spending much more than it collects in tax. It needs to cut spending, but both Rep and Dem voter bases opposed that. So it must increase tax, but both Rep and Dem voters also opposed that. So what to do? Impose a federal selective sales tax a.k.a. tariff that is sufficiently misunderstood that it may seem like a tax on foreigners.

The taffifs and the BBB have also tanked the dollar, notn15A% off it’s peak: everything America now sells is 15% cheaper than it was and everything it imports 15% more expensive. This makes US exports more competitive AND promotes domestic manufacture. That’s good.

But are there downsides? Well yes. A few. That cheaper dollar alongside an increasing federal deficit will push up US borrowing costs which will push up domestic interest rates which will hit mortgage holders in their pocketbook and reduced domestic investment. It’s inflationary and recessionary.

Also it will train the world to be less reliant on a fickle US administration. Manufacturers will seek alternative markets reducing the USs long term global influence. Much of this may be increased trade with China. Why? Well tariffs are causing China to pivot from export lead growth from the domestic consumer market. Some of what those consumers consume will be European and Japanese consumer goods – already perceived as being quality marques by the emerging Chinese middle class. Good for Toyota and Volkswagen.

Finally it’s shredded the rule book. In future when trading blocs perceive imbalances they will be more likely to turn to unilateral tariffs. What happens when the EUs 50Bs deficit in goods and services becomes a 50Bn surplus – time for a tax on the FAANGS?

Tl;Dr: Tariffs are a sales tax by any other name. They are intended to close the burgeoning US budget deficit. They will have the same inflationary and recessionary impact on the economy short to medium term. AND diminish the USs global influence in the medium to long term.

should be much higher, since most manufacturing moved from china to india to circumvent tarrifs.
