I really don’t understand why Mark Carney is allowing him to stay on as public safety minister. Here’s some of his best hits so far.
1. He doesn’t even know what a PAL license is when it comes to firearms. He’s currently in charge of Canada’s gun buyback program and in charge of firearm regulations in general.
2. He wrote a letter of support for someone who was part of a terrorist organization.
3. Now he’s in a potential conflict of interest over this bubble zone protests bill.
What are the odds Carney drops him during the upcoming cabinet shuffle and puts Provost in his place? Can’t let the gun fear mongering go to waste
I see that the other comments are relying on people not reading the article. He doesn’t have a „conflict of interest over the bill“.
The conflict of interest is that his wife is a director with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association – one of the groups *against* the bill – and that he preemptively set up a screen and cooperation with the Justice Minister to handle anything that might involve the CCLA.
I’m all for scrutiny of our cabinet ministers and government, but at this point, after accusations he supports a terrorist group because he’s from the same country, that he supports illegal immigration because of where he’s from, etc.
It reads like grasping for straws because these guys don’t want to say the quiet part out loud.
