Finding savings wherever we can to help actual Canadians < Sending money to people halfway around the world over a fight that’s been happening since the dawn of time.

Imagine if we just stopped trying to save every other country in the world while Canadians continue to suffer, what’s happening in Gaza is horrible, it’s also not our problem in the slightest and sending Canadian taxpayer dollars there is a slap in the face to hardworking Canadians when food bank usage is on the rise, we can’t afford housing, medical wait times are insane and unemployment is skyrocketing.

For one fucking second it would be amazing if we just put Canada first instead of trying to be the worlds hero’s

    2. We are surprised at acts of terrorism, but then prove that it works through acts like this. All this achieves is shows that acts of terrorism like the October attacks is a valid way to achieve your aims.

    3. To whom is the $30 million in aid going? If it’s going to the Israeli-American Gaza „Humanitarian“ Foundation, Palestinians will likely get nothing, and what they do get will come at the cost of their lives [when the IDF continues to gun down those waiting for food.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/gaza-humanitarian-foundation-deaths-palestinians-1.7568517)

Sending aid is good, but fully ending support – both diplomatic [and military](https://www.readthemaple.com/canada-sold-18-9-million-of-military-goods-to-israel-despite-pause/) – for the genocidal Israeli regime is better.

I remember all the times Canada helped fund Palestinian infrastructure – only to see it blown up by the IDF.

It’s obviously better than nothing, but what is needed more than aid is political pressure to stop the genocide. There’s little point in funding aid that sits on the border because it’s being blocked by the IDF or psychopathic settlers.

Maybe we can end the tax breaks that allowed $350 million CAD to fund Israeli settlements. It’d be nice to have a government that actually cracked down on the Canadian dollars being funnelled to Israel.
