It’s mad that our population has increased by about 2 million between 92 and 24. And yet the most watched tv event last year, the Late Late toy show, only got about 200k more viewers than a random episode of Glenroe did in 92.
It’s interesting how Kenny Live didn’t make the cut. And neither did Fair City.
Corrie was a staple of Network 2 back in the day. It wasn’t until Tv3 came along, and its association with Granada (ITV) did Corrie got to that channel. And then IIRC, RTE picked up the rights to Eastenders as a replacement.
I remember, in my childhood, those days of non stop drizzle/rain and only 2 channels on the TV. The shear mind numbing boredom of being stuck in the house with literally nothing to do.

They should never have axed Glenroe. And what have we in its place, alongside poxy Fair City? Fucking Eastenders, a more humorless drizzle of misery never seen.
