I’m positively surprised that the title states the cyclist was struck by a car and not that the cyclist „collided“ with the car or something similar.
A welcome change.
This country needs even somewhat acceptable bike infrastructure, yesterday.

Hope the cyclist will be ok. Its not what you want to be happening on any road, in any country.
Oh those dastardly cars just going around striking people!
Was the car moving by itself or was there a driver operating it?
Some usable cycle infrastructure would be a start.
Most cycle lanes spit cyclists out into traffic or like the keys, the cycle lane is on the left and spontaneously changes to the opposite side of the road, pushing you into the traffic (along the keys at Fr Matthew Bridge).
That same stretch has a very busy bus stop on top of the cycle path so in the morning the cycle path is usually blocked by 3-4 busses.

Or [that piece](https://maps.app.goo.gl/NHQy647FUrP1NV1s9) just down from the entrance to the phoenix park thats so narrow the street sweepers cant get onto it, so its covered in glass so its a major puncture risk every time. its no wonder cyclists opt for the road over the cycle path occasionally.
All the comments blaming the car. I wonder was the cyclist wearing a high vis and have good lights?
Bit odd how a car will fail the nct if lights are facing a bit off where they should but anyone can hop on a bike with shite lights.
