    1. But Pelosi and Schumer have been shaking their head disapprovingly. What else do you want them to do? /s

    2. VisualFix5870 on

They should trust Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Obama and Clinton to install a humanoid puppet that won’t say or do anything remotely compelling or relevant, offer any real policy changes or do anything to benefit the working class and instead just tell is that we should automatically vote for them because they’re the lesser of two terribles.

Gavin Newsom disagrees and still going the centrist route and has his eyes locked on 2028 presidential election. SAD

So true, Pete. That’s why you should stop taking pro-israel lobby money, right?

      > Rahm Emanuel, a longtime party leader, went on Megyn Kelly’s podcast and rejected some party orthodoxy on social issues. The authors Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson have appeared on a stream of podcasts to promote their book Abundance, arguing that progressive policies have stood in the way of progressive government.

Sure, let’s repackage neo-liberal policies from the 90s and early 2000s and call it „bucking the status quo.“

    6. Professional-Buy2970 on

It is physically impossible to go back to the status quo. It’s gone. Destroyed. Along with much of the federal government. Generations of work wiped out in months.

Any movement strong enough to correct from this will go flying past the old status quo and start correcting the failures that got us here. Including within the democratic party. And a reckoning will be had.

Any less, and we simply adopt the new status quo of a failed state in collapse.

There is no path back to what isn’t there anymore.

They should become a Left Wing, Working Class party instead of the slightly more humanized Centre Right Capitalist party they’ve been for decades now.

    8. BigDaddyBain on

Neoliberalism and blind centrism won’t fix a damn thing. What we need is real, bold change, something that actually challenges the previous status quo, not just maintains it.

    9. I’m a centrist for sure. But I say why not embrace the far left? This country couldn’t lose any worse than it already has. As far as I know we haven’t ever had a truly left government in the USA? Lets try. See what happens.

I’m also all on board with trying anything new. I think we should be looking at what works for other countries and ( assuming similar circumstances ) and try those things out here.

My personal thing to try would be itemized taxes. Give people a spreadsheet with all of their taxes owed listed and all of the things the government would spend those taxes on. Then let us decide how much of our taxes went to each item. You don’t want your taxes funding ice, they wont. You don’t want your taxes funding plan parenthood, they wont. You do want you’re takes funding only welfare, every one of your tax dollars goes to welfare.

This would show what the people truly care about. I even think it would have the rich calling for higher taxes on themselves so they can fund things they like that everyone else isn’t funding.

Hes not wrong, but in my heart of hearts I’ll always see him as the man who took a fall for Biden in exchange for a cabinet position and therefore part of the problem. Dems are terrible at making deals to put their friends in instead of candidates loved by the people.

Perhaps if Sanders took 2020 the people wouldn’t have gone Trump in 2024 again. It’s really hard to imagine Sanders dropping out 110 days before election.

    11. Tech-Grandpa on

He seems to be advocating for the old ways himself. He admits trump is breaking all kinds of norms, using the government as a weapon, but then turns around and says any attempt at retribution is „the politics of fear“.

I would counter the „politics of fear“ is really Americans knowing that one side will wield power ruthlessly while in power, and the other will be fekkless wimps terrified of people thinking they are meanies if they actually use the power given to them.

    12. PatchyWhiskers on

He doesn’t seem to have any ideas about what to do about it though.

That’s why I think we should look to the socialist wing. They have energy, ideas, and they can credibly run as outsiders.

    13. Breaking news: representative of the status quo that got us into this situation thinks he has the answers to get us out.

    14. Revolutionary-pawn on

Duh. Electing the right people will not fix this. We must abolish the system that made this possible. If that means it must be done the hard way, that’s just the way it’ll have to be

The Democratic party has openly said that the wrecking of USAID is not worth fighting over.

[Democrats Are Falling For Trump and Musk’s Foreign Aid Trap – POLITICO](https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/02/04/democrats-foreign-aid-trap-trump-00202447)

This can result in 14 millions dead before 2030. So if this isn’t important enough for the Democrats to fight, what is? Immigrants are put into concentration camps, 70% are not criminals. Is this important enough?

Maybe the Democratic party should be put down, it seems they are useless.

    16. It would be nice to see someone with some leadership and balls in the party.

This „oh, he’ll be less popular in September so we’ll cave now and resist then“ bullshit or this „we don’t have to swing at every pitch“ dumbassery needs to give its balls a tug and get in the fight or get out of the way.

Where is the Democrat’s Project 2029? Where is the next Contract With America? Where are the top Democratic candidates for 2028? Where is the sales pitch to the American people about what Democrats want to do to help the 90% of the population?

Not just a platform but a battle plan for how it gets implemented.

Get up off the mat and show some leadership. The country is under attack because you allowed the enemy to storm the gates, why are you cowering in the corner?

This bloke can speak well and has ticker. I rate him highly. Let’s hope he and the other young people with spirit can send the current geriatric crew off to the Sunset Memorial Home.

Damn so running a unpopular ex- California DA on short notice and wasting a billion dollars of campaign funds in 3 months didn’t work ?

Good thing we took it seriously /s

    19. SkydivingCats on

Pisa off, Pete.  You played ball with the DNC to throw the primary to Biden.  You helped put us here so that you could ladder climb.  You’re a centrist and a DNC enabler.  I don’t care what you have to say any more even if there’s truth to it.

    20. Absolutely right. If we’re the only party that’s going to follow rules of decorum we might as well pack it in.

    21. Thanks pete. I remember when you attacked bernie in your last moments of campaigning after taking money from over 60 billionaires throughout the primary. You are the status quo.

    22. TheBelgianGovernment on

Buttigieg is the defender of the status quo. He gaslit the entire world on Biden’s mental health decline.

    23. Obama really set the precedent for that with the “we’re only looking forward” re: Iraq and all the lies there. He had some nerve criticizing Dems now for being on the path he clearly himself was enjoying.

    24. pillbox_purgatory on

Pete hid Biden’s declining health and like 80 percent of this sub also gaslit the rest of us that Biden was okay

    25. Democrats need to find a good leader and reestablish a message what they stand for.

Democrats need to also KILL BIPARTISANSHIP! Democrats need to be as toxic as possible and make Trump the key part of the Gang of Pedophiles and a central figure to the Epstein list.

    26. There is no going back until a full hold of the law which includes prosecuting all of GOP members , Trump and cabinet members for all the crimes being committed .. even SCOTUS .. this is a big task

    27. blackkristos on

Fuck the Dems. Fuck the GOP. We need to stop holding the hands of these fuckwits. If we don’t go progressive, we have no business.
