Somehow, I get a gut feeling that a week or two in Pyongyang is not really what is on the average Russian family’s mind when they think of taking a vacation.

Pretty sure that will be loaded with embargoed trade going one way (payments) and a lot of bodies going the other way on a one way ticket.

This must be the reason that North Korea built that new waterpark with the sketchy slides. Maybe funded by Russian money?

So THATS what the new vacation town is for!

It is a hot destination indeed, especially the night life and breaches are amazing.
The only problem is that not everyone always returns from this paradise.

How many Russian tourists does it take to close North Korea’s borders?

How fun! I hear there’s a new beach resort that nobody’s allowed to go to, and average Russians can’t afford anyway! FUN FUN FUN, Dah?

I wonder how much Moscow is subsidizing this flight, which is clearly in no way, shape or form being flown to move weapons and embargoed trade, nosiree, they’d never do that.

I would love to hear what a Russian citizen who does travel there thinks and what they want to do.
When I travel I have an itinerary with places I want to see, food stands etc. What does NK have that sells it for someone?

You would think this would be a major red flag for the average Russian. „Maybe we are the assholes?“

Oh that is why North Korea built a resort.

Lmao, damning with faint praise I guess.
Although, apparently Georgia, Turkey, Goa, Phuket, and Bali are absolutely flooded with Russians right now. It’s not exactly the Cold War Iron Curtain yet.
Still…. yikes. I’m sure there’s beautiful parts of North Korea but like *can you imagine* picking there of all places for a holiday.

How bleak is Russia that people want to go on tours to North Korea or Crimea (an active warzone)?

Russians are still welcome in Thailand, right? Wouldn’t they just rather go there?

Imagine you’re a North Korean. Get drafted. Die in Ukraine. And the news is: “strengthening ties mean a direct flight to a Pyongyang water park! uwu”
